Faithful Friday – Friday 14 August 2020

Here is the Faithful Friday word for you today!

Faithful Friday is an initiative from our clergy to further explore the Word of God and to reconnect people with Bible verses

Please feel free to reflect on what each passage means to you and let us know if any of the passages inspire you.

Blog post by David Hildred:

At the end of this week we have a short break from our readings in Acts as we celebrate the feast day of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It can be a moment when we remind ourselves that without her willingness and obedience God’s plan of salvation may well have turned out very differently. Instead she recognised (as expressed in her song we shall read) that God is in the business of turning things upside down: he lifts up the humble who are liable to be walked over, he sends the rich away empty. The good news we rely upon is not that ‘good people are acceptable to God’ but completely upside down from that in that ‘repentant rebels are forgiven and are in’. May we too be amongst those who magnify the Lord!
