Faithful Friday – Friday 24 July 2020

Here is the Faithful Friday word for you today!

Faithful Friday is an initiative from our clergy to further explore the Word of God and to reconnect people with Bible verses

Please feel free to reflect on what each passage means to you and let us know if any of the passages inspire you.

Blog post by David Hildred:

Amongst the readings in Luke this week we have a couple of Festival days, and one of those is for James.  Early in the gospels we are introduced to James as a son of Zebedee, along with his brother John, and in Mark’s gospel Jesus gives them the nickname “Sons of thunder”.  We don’t know what that is meant to signify, but is it about making a lot of noise when the real action has already happened?  In the passage we read on the Festival day for James we hear the brothers saying, “Yes, we will follow through.  We’re not just about empty words.  We are for action and lifestyle”.  May James inspire us to say the same, as we seek to ‘walk the walk’ and not just ‘talk the talk’.
