Lent Course 2021 – What is the Bible?

Parish of Kidderminster East Lent Course 2021 – During this Lent season as we will most likely still be in lockdown we will be providing various online materials for study. One of the things we are putting together as a parish is a five session course on the Bible.

The Lent Course will be covering the following topics;

Session 1. Why Bother? Why should we read the Bible anyway?

Session 2. An overview of the Bible, its different themes and genre.

Session 3. God speaks to us in revelation of himself.

Session 4.  God speaks to us in relationship.

Session 5. So what? How do we get the most from the Bible?

The Lent Course will be available mainly via homegroups; however, if you are not a member of any homegroup you can still access the materials and go through them either yourself or with your family or with other friends.

And for those who’d prefer to do something together on their own (!) – rather than only thinking about what to give up for Lent, how about taking on something for Lent?

Below, there is a reading plan to enable us to read through the letter to the Hebrews during this season.  Why not add this to your usual Bible readings?  Or, equally, you might like to make use of the booklet of prayers from a selection of prayers; one each day in the season.

For any of these resource materials please click the download button below, or contact the Office to ask for a hard copy to be posted to you, on: office@kidderminstereast.org.uk or 01562 822131.

Other resources:

  • The Church of England’s Lent resources theme for 2021 is entitled #LiveLent: God’s Story, Our Story. It is based on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Lent book for 2021, Living His Story by Hannah Steele. Both the book and the accompanying daily reflections encourage all Christians to think about their calling, how to share their faith and reflect on the difference Christ makes in our lives.
  • If you are interested in participating in the Virtual Diocesan Passion Play, an exciting online project for Palm Sunday, please get in touch with James to express an interest. There are a range of roles available, speaking and non-speaking, big and small.
  • The Bible Society have put their heads together and developed a brand new, 40-day experience called The Lent Encounter. It’s completely free – all you have to do is sign up. You’ll receive an email each day featuring Bible verses, beautiful and inspiring images, video reflections and practical challenges.
