‘Safeguarding Sunday’ is an ecumenical initiative supported by the Church of England, and this year will be marked on 10th October 2021.
Safeguarding follows basic principles of justice, care and compassion for those who might otherwise be exploited and is at the heart of the Christian message. The care and protection of children, young people and adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of the whole Church. Everyone who participates in the life of the Church therefore has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all, and this is why we hope you will receive today’s information card and make appropriate use of it. ‘Safeguarding Sunday’ also gives us an opportunity to thank all those working behind the scenes to make our churches welcoming, safe places for all who wish to attend worship or any other aspect of Church life.
