Deuteronomy 16 – 24
The Lord set up for his people a way of running the nation that would help them to keep the covenant. There were to be festivals, not just the solemn keeping of commands. There were to be senior people (judges) who would decide what was right in cases of dispute, and they are even told of the time when they would want a king just like all the other nations around them: the Lord would ensure that the king would know how to lead his people in keeping the covenant. All sorts of guidance is laid down to point the people in the direction of the covenant. What helps us look to and live within the New Covenant? What keeps our eyes on the Saviour?
