Isaiah 63
Today’s reading is like turning to the last page of a thriller to find out ‘whodunnit’ because you know you haven’t got time to finish the book before it has to go back to the library. It’s just two days before we celebrate the birth of the rescuer, the servant, who perfectly fulfils God’s day of judgement and salvation, and who is the only one who can get the job done. It is through Jesus that we, who have no spiritual credit in our account (‘without money’ 55:1) can come and buy and eat, because his salvation is a gift that is ours to receive, since the price has already been paid. Let’s sing ‘Glory’ with the angels this Christmas!
