Acts 28
It is perhaps in 27:23 that we are shown what it is that enables Paul to survive so well during all the physical and spiritual challenges of these chapters. He says, “an angel of the God whose I am and whom I serve stood beside me”. Paul knows who he is, that he belongs to God, and he knows what his purpose is, to serve God’s purposes. It means he is not cowed by those who think he is a murderer (28:4) nor puffed up by those who think he is a god (28:6) and it also means he takes every opportunity to share the grace of God. Our story is unlikely to be as dramatic as his, but can it be shaped by having the same attitude of knowing whose we are and whom we serve?
