1 Samuel 22
In this part of the Old Testament we read about the transition of power from the first king of Israel, Saul, to the second king, David. The two had become very close: David had married one of Saul’s daughters, but was it a matter of “familiarity breeds contempt”? Saul had become envious of David’s military victories and the praise he received for them, and it was murderous envy. Should David lead a rebellion or encourage a mutiny? No, instead he gives us a Godly example (in the next few day’s readings) of how to respect authority whilst not condoning its ungodly agenda. Is this of help for our journey through life?
