Isaiah 51

When God’s people were invaded by the Assyrians and then by the Babylonians it was of God’s doing: these nations were used by God to bring his people to their senses, their spiritual senses. Even though his people suffered his wrath it was for the purpose of bringing them back to himself, to live as his beloved. In this chapter we are reminded of God’s foundational love and promises, even though his people have been through a time of judgement. God’s solution for his wayward people is nearly here; the one who fulfils the role of being the servant is almost revealed. Can you see him yet?
