John 12: 20-36a
Jesus predicts his death. ‘We would like to see Jesus’, said some Greeks who went to the Passover feast. Jesus replies that ‘the hour’ has come ‘for the Son of Man to be Glorified’. What were the Greeks expecting? Surely not that this man Jesus was to die. But Jesus the Christ came to die, and although troubled he did not turn away from his Father’s purpose. He declares ‘Father glorify your name’ and says that he will draw all people to himself. Would you like to see Jesus? What do you expect from him? Such love, paying the debt you owe?
