2 Samuel 16
This week’s readings show that David is but human; he is not a perfect superhero. His sexual indiscretion spreads amongst his family and results in his son Absalom making a claim upon the throne. In this chapter Ziba appears to switch sides and offer support for David, whilst Shimei (a relative of former King Saul) is adamant in his opposition to David. All is not as it seems; all is not fixed as the final outcome (you’ll need to wait until next week, chapter 19!). The king himself needs redemption, forgiveness; evil needs to be uncovered; grace needs to be passed on. How we long for a Saviour to achieve all this. Praise the Lord for the One who comes from the house and line of David to do this … for us.
