Matthew 28
In the opening chapters of the gospel Matthew is keen to show us how the birth of Jesus fits with the earlier word of God proclaimed by the prophets. In the climax of his gospel here in the last two chapters we hear people mockingly quote words from the ministry of Jesus and we have the distinctive words of the crucified Jesus and the resurrected Jesus, culminating in “All authority” resting in Jesus. He fulfils and supersedes all that was spoken before; let us be those with ears who hear.
