Job 24
The ‘friends’ of Job are constant in their wrong theology. They see that Job has suffered great misfortune and they believe this indicates judgement from God. They therefore conclude that Job must have sinned. Remember however 1:8 & 2:3. This constant barrage causes Job to take the position of wanting to have a court battle with God in order to justify himself before God. In today’s chapter he longs for God to begin judgement in earnest, because the cheated remain disadvantaged, the poor remain uncared for (and so on through the chapter) and he eventually would be able to state his case before the Judge. Can you see how all of this changes because Jesus takes the judgement against us on the cross?
