This chapter is full of heightened emotions. There is disagreement about how to react to the woman’s use of the expensive perfume; the decision to betray Jesus, which is followed through with money, swords, kisses and fleeing; the declaration of singular loyalty to Jesus, which is followed through with sleep and denials; the kangaroo court which barely deserves a response. And in the middle of this is an explanation of where it is all leading to: “take my body”, “my blood poured out for many”. Which emotion resonates the most for you? Does that point to something in you or in Jesus?
