Hebrews 10
On this Good Friday we will no doubt be able to experience the story of Jesus through readings, music, art and reflection on the words of others, and we will once again be invited to wade more deeply into its meaning and effect for us, rather than for ever only paddle in the familiar details of the cross. This passage in Hebrews is a good one to wade in! We are reminded of the animal sacrifices that were commanded by the Old Testament law, that surely were a good thing, but which were unable to bring final cleansing and forgiveness (v4). Yet they set the pattern which Jesus came to fulfil and fill full of meaning, and with his one sacrifice achieved God’s full purpose, which is expressed in v10: we have been made holy! Feel free to be lost in wonder, love and praise!
