Matthew 20
We continue with reading through Matthew’s gospel and perhaps we can increasingly note how completely topsy turvy life in the Kingdom is compared with life in the world. Those first disciples hadn’t totally grasped what Jesus was teaching, and they allowed their mother to make an inappropriate request to Jesus about status seating. They missed the teaching about needing to be servants. They missed the point of the parable at the beginning of the chapter when all are rewarded with the same blessing from the Lord. Here’s one for mathematicians about that parable: given that we are to receive infinite blessing from the Lord, would it make any difference if he awarded ¾ of infinite blessing, or ½, ¼ or even 1/12 of infinite blessing to us?
