Luke 8
Yesterday, today and tomorrow we read the accounts of where Jesus raises particular people from the dead. It showed that he had power over death; it was not the same enemy for him as it is for us. Many have written before about how these three individuals nonetheless would have died once again at some point in the future and so it was more about resuscitation than resurrection. However, the great news of Easter is that the resurrection of Jesus is a “transferrable benefit”. His victory over death means that Jesus is the first fruits of those who have been raised, meaning that we are in the bunch of those who follow on where he is leading and living. It’s worth making a few chocolate eggs disappear to celebrate that! (Other Easter treats are available).
