Matthew 6
We’ve been listening this week to the teaching from Jesus called “The Sermon on the Mount”, and once again Matthew has stressed for us how Jesus came to fulfil all that the Old Testament had been pointing towards. We have heard how he fulfilled it, then filled it full of meaning, inviting us to move beyond the letter of the law in order to catch the spirit of the law. For many of us this teaching is so familiar that we have lost how revolutionary it was: can we put ourselves in the sandals of those who first heard this and deepen our response to it by imagining their fresh response to it?
