Matthew 8
We read about some ‘general’ healings at the end of chapter 4, but now we have a series of particular healings, such that those who were blessed could be easily identified. Is Matthew telling us that we should take note of the teaching of Jesus (that we read about last week) because his authority to teach is shown by these healings? And then, on top of that he proves his authority over creation, and over the spiritual world, which is particularly underlined when he heals the paralytic and speaks the most powerful words “Your sins are forgiven”. Let’s rejoice he is the same Jesus for us today!
