Exodus 10
As we read through these plagues notice how the magicians could replicate some of them, and then fade into the background when they couldn’t. Notice how the state of Pharaoh’s heart develops: first he hardens it, then ‘it was hard’, then the Lord hardens that heart. The Lord eventually confirms the stance that Pharaoh wishes to take. Notice how Pharaoh is willing to negotiate a little bit more of a release each time towards the end. In contrast to this notice how Moses simply remains obedient each time to what the Lord tells him to do. It’s not difficult to work out who gives us the better example to follow when we consider the challenges in life we face.
