Mob violence, fake news and misinformation has landed Paul in a dangerous spot in Jerusalem, yet he uses it to share his testimony about how he turned to Jesus and found him to fulfil all that the Jewish Scriptures foretold. Paul is passed from one court to the next seemingly getting into deeper trouble with each step, but he knows it fits with God’s purposes (23:11). In each setting he uses the opportunity to speak of Jesus rather than only try to save his own skin, and then in 25:11 he appeals to be sent to the highest court, to appear before Caesar – another opportunity taken. What opportunities lie along our path?
