Jeremiah 30

The nation was about to suffer the great humiliation of being overrun by the Babylonians and their best people being taken off into exile.  They were desperate for good news, and that’s what the false prophets gave them: “just a couple of years and it will all be over”.  But Jeremiah had the word of the Lord: “get set for the long term – 70 years of exile”, but the message is given in the context of God’s plans for the prosperity of his people, even though it didn’t look like that at the time.  The long-standing promise was still “you will be my people and I will be your God”.  Is there a situation where we need God’s long-term plan backed up by his long-standing promise?
