Matthew 22

Have you noticed how the parables that Jesus tells in these chapters are not ‘lovely fables with a moral message’ where everyone lives happily every after? Instead he uses language and imagery that strike through to the heart and challenge long-held and settled religious opinions. The Pharisees and Sadducees strike back with their tricky questions, but Jesus uses each opportunity to lead them, and us, into a deeper understanding of living in God’s long-term, eternal kingdom.
