Mark 7

Jesus encourages us to think about the source of the rubbish in our lives: does it come to us from outside, from our environment, from our upbringing, or does it come from within, from our human nature?  If it’s from outside then we can have a good go at finding solutions, such as improve our living conditions, our parenting courses, and so on.  If it’s from within then we would seem to be stuck with our human nature … unless there is a Saviour who can clean us up from the inside outwards.  Praise God that Mark wants us to see the power of the Saviour over all our folly, arrogance, slander, envy, …!
