Matthew 25
Isn’t it surprising that after all the times Jesus spoke about his death, and then during this week’s chapters how he speaks of his return in glory, that the disciples were utterly shocked and devastated by the events of the crucifixion (coming up soon in our readings)? I’m not suggesting we would have been any different; we have the benefit of knowing the full story. So, in that sense we should be like the wise virgins (25:4) who were ready for the master’s return, and we are like the servant (25:15) who has been entrusted with a large amount. What are we going to do with the Good News which has been given to us? Do we just keep it and hide it away for ourselves, or share it expecting it to bear dividends for the master?
