Romans 3
Paul is writing to the Christians in Rome as they come to understand that they are welcomed into being the People of God through faith in Jesus. Far from undermining all that happened in the Old Testament, Jesus has fulfilled and brought to new life all that it was pointing to. Some of Paul’s reasoning needs careful reading (slowly and a number of times!) but keep in mind that these people in Rome, just like us, are loved by God (1:7) and have faith in Jesus (1:8). It is that faith which opens the way to the Father whether we are of Jewish or non-Jewish heritage: all have sinned, and all are justified freely by his grace. Alleluia!
