Proverbs 22
Some of these sayings stand out for the straightforward wisdom they offer, or perhaps because they have become popular over time. For example, 15:1 invites us to display part of the fruit of the Spirit which Paul writes about later, and 18:10 may be familiar as a song. Many of the sayings contrast the ways of the wise and foolish, righteous and wicked, upright and sluggard, inviting us to examine ourselves and consider the choices we have made. Sometimes we go for many verses before the Lord is mentioned, but the underlying Wisdom that is spoken of here is what has come from the Lord from the beginning (8:22 onwards). Let’s drink of this wisdom.
