Mark 10
We join Mark’s gospel this week just after what many see as the pivotal conversation of 8:27. Now that Jesus is assured his disciples know WHO he is, the Messiah, he goes on to teach them HOW he is to be the Messiah. He speaks of his death and resurrection three times in the chapters that follow. Here in chapter 10 we have the wonderfully clear explanation of what his death is all about: he will die in order to give his life as a ransom, which sets us free from the condemnation of our sin. The passages from earlier this week show how easy it is to fill our lives with sin, and how we cannot escape on our own. Praise God for the Saviour who is sent to rescue us and set us free!
