1 Samuel 22
What a story of abuse of power and authority and the instability it produces! Saul retains his position as king even though he has been rejected by the Lord and David has been anointed as the next king. With a heart turned away from the Lord Saul has lost the connection to wisdom and we see the decisions he makes arise from an envious heart and stubborn will, even to the point here of killing the priests of the Lord. He no longer listens to advice and nothing can persuade him from advancing his murderous intentions. David will become the king who typifies Jesus who is King of kings and Lord of lords. Can we tell which king is on the throne of our lives?
